The house had always wanted to build a light, modern home, using natural, timeless materials that seamlessly link indoor and outdoor spaces. The house sits on high ground overlooking gardens with rolling countryside beyond. The main entrance is approached by a causeway of large granite slabs across a shallow pool and a dining pavilion ‘floats’ over the pool to the left of the entrance.

A dry stone wall wraps around the building at the entrance courtyard. This needed to be beautifully built, with a craftsman’s eye and skill, and we spent a lot of time searching for the right stone and the right stonemason.
